How do I install Fotomoto on WordPress?

Last Updated: Feb 12, 2019 12:11PM PST

The Fotomoto plugin is the simplest way to install Fotomoto on a WordPress site. It is fully-compatible with the built-in Image and Gallery features in WordPress, and no additional plugins are required.

Important! Before you begin...

  1. You will need a Fotomoto account - if you don't already have one you can sign up here.
  2. Fotomoto can not be used on wordpress.com sites - you need to have the self-hosted flavor of the WordPress application.
  3. Fotomoto can be made to work with any WordPress Theme, but may not work as expected with every gallery/lightbox/slideshow plugin. Please see this article about potential incompatibilities.

Installing Fotomoto on WordPress

  1. Set your Publishing Platform and copy your Site Key

    1. Go to the Settings tab in your Fotomoto Dashboard. Make sure that "WordPress" is selected as your Publishing Platform. If it's not, click the orange link under Publishing Platform, select "WordPress", and click OK.
    2. Click the orange "site key" link and copy the site key.

Note: The API Mode option should only be checked if you intend to use the Fotomoto API - this option is intended mostly for developers.

The Enable Fotomoto Multiuser is provided for "community" sites where each WordPress user has their own separate accounts.

  4. Set options for your gallery

See this article on how to set up Fotomoto in your Gallery. Note: If you use a JavaScript library to display your images in a lightbox, slideshow or other otherwise, you'll need to select the appropriate Script Library in your Fotomoto Dashboard - see this article. Fotomoto Buy Buttons may not work with your library if it's not in the list of libraries that work with Fotomoto.

  5. Success!

The Fotomoto Buy Button toolbar should now appear under every image on your Wordpress site. Next, you'll want to read our article "I've installed Fotomoto - now what?.
If you don't see the Buy Buttons by the images, please see this article.
