Fotomoto compatibility with WordPress themes

Last Updated: Feb 27, 2012 11:28AM PST

Why your WordPress theme may not work...

Fotomoto does not work with every WordPress theme; there are hundreds (if not thousands) of themes available, and some themes contain CSS or JavaScript code that may cause Fotomoto to not function as expected.

We suggest you use a theme that is listed on our How page, but you can always install other themes and give them a try. If you have trouble, you may want to search for the name of the theme in our Community, as others may have posted fixes.

Try first!

If you're using a theme not listed on the How page, we strongly suggest you contact the theme developer to see if the theme will be compatible with Fotomoto. They may be willing to assist you, because we help promote themes that are 100% Fotomoto compatible by listing them on our How page. Please send this page to the theme developer, and if they have any questions, please feel free to have them contact us.

If you plan to try the theme yourself, you should set up a test page and watch for the issues described below. If you have trouble and think the issue that may be theme-related, try switching to the built-in Twenty Eleven theme and see if the problem continues. If it does, something about your theme is incompatible.

Known theme issues

  1. CSS conflicts

    While rare, sometimes a theme will contain CSS that causes our buy buttons and/or widget to appear incorrectly, and may even put the buy buttons behind your image.

    Luckily, CSS issues are relatively easy to fix. If you know CSS, you may be able to resolve the issue on your own with custom CSS - please see Changing the appearance of the Buy Buttons in this article. Otherwise we suggest you contact the theme developer or a web designer for assistance.

  2. Fotomoto plugin requires wp_footer()

    For Fotomoto to work, your theme must make use of the wp_footer() call that is built-in to WordPress - without the call, the Fotomoto Script will not be loaded in to your page's code.

    The wp_footer() call should be found just before the closing </body> tag of footer.php file in your theme.

    You can try to edit footer.php and add <?php wp_footer(); ?> just before the </body> tag.

  3. Unsupported JavaScript libraries

    Many themes will include JavaScript libraries for image slideshows, galleries and other functionality. Fotomoto does work with several JavaScript image libraries (see this list), but may not work with others.
