If you have Automatic Processing enabled (see How to change your Order Processing method), Fotomoto will attempt to charge either your credit card or your PayPal account for order printing and shipping costs. If the charge attempt fails, Fotomoto will set the status of the order back to "Paid", and you will need to manually initiate the payment for the printing and shipping as below.
How to manually pay printing and shipping on an order
1. Log in to your Fotomoto Dashboard.
2. Go to the detail page for the order from the Orders page.
3. Select the "I want Fotomoto to process this order for me" radio button.
4. You will be prompted to choose how you'd like to pay for the printing and shipping costs.
If the charge is processed successfully, the order status will change to either "Queued" [to go to print] or "Waiting for Original" so you can upload any needed high resolution images. If the charge fails, you will see an error message.
Why did the printing and shipping charge fail in the first place?
There is a very slight chance that a charge could fail due to systems or network issues, but this is very rare. Otherwise...
If you're using PayPal
There is a good chance that you've exceeded your defined PayPal "maximum pre-approval limit" or the pre-approval has expired and you'll need to re-connect your PayPal account. Please see 'How to create a new "maximum pre-approval limit"?' in About the PayPal "maximum pre-approval limit"
If you're using a credit card
It's most likely that your card expired, so please go to the Payment Information page in your Fotomoto Dashboard and check the expiration date on the card. If the card has not expired, you'll want to check with your bank to find out why the charge failed.
