This article explains the steps needed to create the Fotomoto account registration process.
What you'll need
- A payment account: Fotomoto requires that a Stripe (preferred) and/or a PayPal payment account be connected to your Fotomoto account - this is where payments go when you receive an order. Stripe is preferred because the checkout process requires fewer steps - customers can complete their purchase inside the Fotomoto shopping cart, where if you're using PayPal your customer is redirected to PayPal's website to make their payment. You can also connect both Stripe and PayPal so your customers can pay via credit card or via PayPal.
- A way to pay for print and shipping costs: When you receive an order via Fotomoto, your payment account will be credited for the sale amount including shipping and any tax. Then you need to pay Fotomoto for the cost of making the prints and the shipping. You can do this on an order-by-order basis, or we can automatically charge a connected credit card or PayPal account.
Register your Fotomoto account
Open the email from Fotomoto
After you register for a Fotomoto account, you should receive an email from Fotomoto with the subject "Fotomoto Account Activation". If you don't see the email in your Inbox, please check your SPAM folder. Open the email and click the link inside, which will take you to the Fotomoto Signup Wizard.
Complete your Fotomoto account
Important: by completing the Fotomoto signup process, you are agreeing to the Fotomoto Terms of Use.
The Signup Wizard will walk you through the process of creating your Fotomoto account password, choosing a subscription plan, connecting your payment account, setting your base pricing, etc. During that process:
- If you have multiple websites and would like to manage them from one Fotomoto account, you will need the ProPlus subscription plan.
- If you connect a PayPal account, the "Maximum pre-approval limit" is a limit on how much Fotomoto can charge your PayPal account for printing and shipping costs. Select the limit you are comfortable with, but note that when the limit is reached, your orders will stop processing automatically until you re-connect your PayPal account to set a new limit.
- In the Order Processing section, please select "Automatic" fulfillment unless you want to fulfill prints yourself or at a lab other than Bay Photo.
- When prompted to choose "Your Site's Publishing Platform", please select your platform from the drop-down menu. If you don't see your platform in the list, please select "Other" and type in the name of the platform you're using and click the "Finish" button.
-
When prompted to Install Your Fotomoto Script, copy the Fotomoto script and use it as instructed in the install instructions for your platform. If your platform isn't on the list, paste this JavaScript in to your web page or template just above the ending body tag:
<!-- Fotomoto Script goes here --> </body>
- Done! You can now use Fotomoto to sell images on your website.When you receive an order, Fotomoto will automatically send you and your customer an email notification.
Important: we may need to reach you regarding your orders, so please make sure you include a monitored email address and a phone number on the Account Information page so we can reach you when needed.
