The Crop Mismatch Issue
When uploading a high resolution file to complete an order, Fotomoto expects the high resolution image to have the same aspect ratio (shape) as the image sold from your website. If after uploading a file you see the red "Photo's aspect ratio and original's aspect ratio differ" warning, this means that you'll need to re-upload a different high resolution image with the correct aspect ratio.
How to resolve the issue
One approach is to:
- Get the height and width of the "web" image sold from your website.
- Open your original high resolution file in an image editor that allows you to define the crop ratio, for example Adobe Photoshop.
- Set the crop tool in your image editor to use a ratio, then put the dimensions of the web image in as the ratio then crop it to match the appearance of the image on your website.
- Save the new high resolution image.
- Go to the order detail page in Fotomoto, move your cursor over the image in the "Uploaded" column, click the "reupload" button and select the new high resolution image that will replace the old one.
- Once the image has uploaded, please make sure the "Photo's aspect ratio and original's aspect ratio differ" message is no longer shown and that the order status has changed to "Queued".
How to calculate the aspect ratio of an image
If you need to calculate the aspect ratio of any image, just divide the width of the image by the height. For example, if your image is 5712px x 4284px, the aspect ratio would be 5712/4284 = 1.33.
